Hello!
I have had digestive issues my entire life. Things got significantly worse as an adult. A year ago, I switched to an LCHF diet, which made me feel a bit better, but it was still far from perfect. I've also struggled with skin problems, including acne.
I received recommendations from Greatlife and read the book PXP. I have added a number of supplements and made some fundamental lifestyle changes. Today, I take Digestive Enzymes Clinical Strength with meals, Flora 20-14 Ultra Strength Probiotic 60 every day, One Daily multivitamin-mineral once a day, Astaxanthin, vitamin C powder, Eskimo-3 Pure Omega 3, 120 capsules of Glutamine Allmax Nutrition Japanese Micronized for leaky gut, Iodine Iosol, MSM, and Zinc.
I have started walking daily and make sure to get some sunlight. I still struggle to wake up early, especially on weekends, so I’m not quite there yet, but I feel better and have noticed that I wake up earlier on weekends compared to before when I could sleep endlessly. I haven’t been ill for a year, and I’ve lost around 5 kilos, reaching my ideal weight. My skin is now almost completely clear, with only the occasional blemish just before my period, but otherwise, nothing.
There is still room for improvement; I still have a bit of heartburn, and my stomach is sometimes unsettled. I probably need to review my intake of protein and fat to ensure one doesn’t dominate too much and add some stomach-friendly carbs. But I now have a flat stomach. A year ago, I was bloated every day after lunch, especially if I’d been sitting still for a long time. Since I have a sedentary job, I try to follow PXP’s advice to move once an hour and practice deep breathing whenever I remember.
I have become very selective with the ingredients I use and have tried several recipes from PXP. Nowadays, almost everything in my home is organic and certified. I bought meat from a farmer with grass-fed cows, and the difference in taste and texture was incredible, so now I can’t imagine buying industrial meat again. What I love most about my “new self” is that I feel like a more positive person and appreciate what I have more. I want to tackle my old demons and plan to go through the section in PXP on mental health as soon as I can. I’ve noticed that my children have a better mum, and my partner has a happier girlfriend.
