Lactic Acid Bacteria Are Important for Health

Probiotic supplements contain live microorganisms, that is, beneficial or probiotic bacteria. Virtually every surface of the body that comes into contact with the external environment is colonized by living microorganisms: the skin, oral cavity, respiratory system, urogenital system, and the gastrointestinal tract. The gut contains by far the largest amount of probiotic bacteria, which are commonly referred to as beneficial or good gut bacteria when they make up the normal gut flora.

Probiotic bacteria are absolutely vital for health, and we have more probiotic bacteria than cells in our bodies. When exposed to moisture or heat, probiotic bacteria become active but die quickly if they do not have a medium to act and grow in, such as the body’s intestinal tract, where they thrive and multiply using prebiotics as their food source. The number of bacteria in a probiotic capsule can reach several billion. For example, Flora Plus+ contains 20 billion bacteria or CFU (Colony Forming Units) per capsule. Flora 5-14 from Innate Response and Kids N’ Us MegaFlora from MegaFood contain 5 billion probiotic bacteria per capsule. Flora 20-14 from Innate Response and MegaFlora from MegaFood contain 20 billion probiotic bacteria per capsule. Flora 50-14 from Innate Response and MegaFlora Plus from MegaFood contain 50 billion probiotic bacteria per capsule. Flora 300-14 from Innate Response contains 300 billion probiotic bacteria per capsule. This is more probiotic bacteria per capsule than any other brand in the industry.

Moisture, Heat, and Light Affect Probiotics

Moisture, heat, and light, however, can make certain bacterial strains unstable over time. Many of the strains in both Flora and MegaFlora can withstand room temperature, but unfortunately not all, which is why they must be stored in the refrigerator. Flora and MegaFlora that are to be stored for a long time are best kept in the freezer. Note that we store all Flora and MegaFlora jars in large professional freezers until they are shipped from our warehouse. Flora Plus+, however, can withstand room temperature.

Can Flora and MegaFlora Withstand Transport?

We have tested the transport from the USA to Sweden during the high summer months with a so-called tracker. Flora from Innate Response and MegaFlora from MegaFood withstand the transport without any decrease in the number of bacterial strains compared to what is stated on the label. As soon as Flora and MegaFlora arrive at our warehouse, they are placed in freezers as mentioned. Flora and MegaFlora can also handle the transport from our warehouse to you as a customer and a few days of storage at room temperature at a pickup point without any issues. However, we do recommend that you pick up your package as soon as you receive notification and then store the products in a dry, dark, and cool place, i.e., in the refrigerator. If Flora or MegaFlora are to be stored for an extended period, we recommend keeping them in the freezer. If you have purchased our best probiotic, Flora Plus+, it can withstand room temperature.

Probiotics That Can Withstand Room Temperature?

Flora Plus+ is a probiotic that can withstand room temperature. It is perhaps the best probiotic on the market, with 16 clinically studied and non-competing strains and 20 billion bacteria per capsule. It is suitable for both women and men. Flora Plus+ is excellent for those who just want to support their gut and digestive system in case of mild discomfort, as well as for those who suffer from IBS, Ulcerative Colitis, and Crohn's. Flora Plus+ is free from dairy and gluten. It is manufactured under ISO9001 and HACCP (ISO22000).
